nature is by far my favorite subject. it is exciting, renewing, and unpredictable. a photographer can sit on the beach for hours trying to capture a specific shot, only to find that his or her least liked image has somehow become the most unique and spectacular vision. every wave packs different punches, each sunset has its own tones, and every flower showcases different details. in the same way that everything in nature is different, every photo should tell its own story.

About three years ago, I set out on a mission to explore the gilded age. I travelled to old, historic mansions all over the northeast and Florida photographing and writing about the homes and the families that once dwelled within. While I loved discovering this era in a new way, I often felt like I was only capturing the interests of others. The homes and the specific contents within are all expressions of the individuals that once owned them, not necessarily mine. I still love capturing these treasures from the past, but I realize I need a space to invest in my personal interests. HOUSFOTO is a place of photographic exploration into nature, city, and architecture. I have always felt myself torn between the fast pace of New York City and the isolation of the beach at midnight. Join me as I split myself between the best of both worlds.
